Annual report honoured with Red Dot: Grand Prix
In 2015, the German agency Strichpunkt Design was honoured with the Red Dot: Grand Prix for the annual report “(in)visible – Trumpf Annual Report 2013/2014” of the company Trumpf. In advance view of the “International Year of Light 2015”, proclaimed by the United Nations, the annual report 2013/2014 was devoted to the topic.

International design experts select the best design concepts
The basis of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2016 is formed by the experts of the Red Dot jury. This year, it is comprised of 20 internationally recognised designers, professors, specialised journalists and publishers. Thanks to their backgrounds and experiences, the jury members can especially appreciate the cultural characteristics of design.

From 22 April 2016, “World’s Best Communication Design 2015/2016 – Taiwanese and international highlights of the Red Dot Award” will show a selection of international projects that were successful in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015.

Blackmagic Industrial Design Team is Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2016
In 2016, the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year will travel half way around the globe to receive the “Radius” challenge cup in Essen, Germany. Blackmagic Industrial Design Team led by Simon Kidd from Australia is to receive the highest honorary title of the Red Dot Design Award.

Manufacturers and designers entered a record number of around 5,200 innovations in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016. The jury was also bigger than before, with 41 experts coming together in the Ruhr area to assess each and every object live and on site over a period of several days.

On 27 March 2016 Ludwig Mies van der Rohe would have been 130 years old. He is considered to be one of the most important architects of the 20th century. With his simple, reduced architectural style he formed the motto "less is more". Besides his visionary buildings made out of steel and glass, Mies van der Rohe also designed furniture: among others the "Barcelona chair" was designed for one of his most famous works, the German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona in 1929.

The title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year” is not one that can be applied for: Only those who puts up with above-average design achievements on consistant bases, can be chosen to be the Red Dot: Agency of the Year. Last year the advertising agency’s creative staff secured the title of honour with their extraordinary communication campaigns. In addition to their continuous successes over the past years, a total of 16 Red Dot awards and 4 Red Dot: Best of the Best awards in 2015 are proof of their achievements.
