Exhibition: Formosa Forms
Design trends in technology and lifestyle from Taiwan
From the beginning of October to the end of November 2014, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents “Formosa Forms – Design trends in technology and lifestyle from Taiwan”. Millions of people around the globe use innovative products of the insular state „Ilha Formosa“, the beautiful island, without knowing that their daily companions come from there. Sculptural lighting, powerful smartphones and notebooks, or elaborate bicycles illustrate in an aesthetic way that Taiwan is one of the leading countries in design.
Exhibition: Light & Shape
Best of Belgian Design
From 28 October 2014 until 25 January 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents the special exhibition “Light & Shape: Best of Belgian Design”. From ultra-light luggage collection to unusual lamps: the exemplary selection of products from various living environments presents a cross-section of the current Belgian design standard. Touching and testing most of the exhibits is explicitly allowed, since outstanding design quality becomes apparent only in use.

Event: Every product tells a story
Good products do not appear from nowhere. In the beginning, there always is an idea which turns into the final product after a long development process and countless drafts. But where do these ideas come from and how do designers get their motivation? The exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story”, which can be visited from 28 November 2014 until 31 May 2015 in the Hong Kong Design Institute, explores this question in detail.

Taiwanese Design Faces
A special exhibition which focuses on the creative minds behind award-winning designs is presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei from 13 November 2014 – 29 March 2015. “Taiwanese Design Faces” tells stories – about five Taiwanese designers. The presentation introduces the people who create innovative products, convince manufacturers to produce these, and who give advice and support during the whole development process, from the idea to the finished good.
