The jury session of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015 is finished. On three long days, numerous works from all over the world were examined and evaluated by the 27-headed jury. Now it is time to wait and look forward to Berlin.

During the International Year of Light, technologies are focused which reduce the global emissions of greenhouse gases: for example, through the use of light-emitting diodes - LEDs. How different LEDs are already used in current designs, is shown by selected lights.

From “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1954 - 1979)

Still until 23 August 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum and the Ruhr Museum in Essen, Germany, are presenting the exhibition “Enduring, not ultimate form”. In the same way that design has constantly changed and developed further, so too has today’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen stayed close to the pulse of time in the past sixty years.

Zec turns over office as Icsid president to successor For two years, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec held the highest office in the industrial design world as president of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid). At the Council’s general assembly in San Francisco, he handed over the presidency to his new successor Carlos Hinrichsen from Chile.

Invigorating anniversary address held by Professor Dr. Peter Zec also opens design congress CONNECTING’07 The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) celebrated its 50-year anniversary. On October 17 at the Masonic Center, San Francisco, some 1,000 designers from all over the world attended the anniversary ceremony, which simultaneously inaugurated the 25th international design congress CONNECTING’07.

As part of her visit to Germany, her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway came to the red dot design museum on Wednesday, 17 October 2007. The Queen visited the German-Norwegian touring exhibition “Not only Salmon and Sausages – Ikke bare laks og pølser”, which had already been opened with a festive ceremony in the red dot design museum the previous night.

Kenji Ekuan is chairman of the GK Design Group and since 1998 he has been chairman of the humanitarian organisation "Design for the World”. He holds important positions in design-oriented associations such as the Icsid, the Japan Design Foundation and the Japan Finland Design Association and his ideas created international design trends. It is important for him, among other things, to understand design as a source for improving life. His contribution as contributing writer to the latest publication of the red dot edition, “Hall of Fame”, is about „The Tomorrow of Design. Simplicity is the ultimate”.
