Red Dot Award: Product Design Ranking 2015
The jury is in place!
The Red Dot jury comprises about 40 design experts of international repute. A particularly distinguished panel has been appointed in this anniversary year of 2015. One example is Werner Aisslinger, who became world famous with his mobile living space, “Loft Cube”. Aisslinger’s products feature in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, as do those of Red Dot jury member Hans Ehrich, the “Grand Seigneur” of Swedish design culture. Fashion and shoe designer Datuk’ Professor Jimmy Choo OBE, a superstar on the international design scene, will once again act as a juror for the “Fashion, lifestyle and accessories” category.

“To explore new issues and topics in design, to integrate design thinking, and to entrust high regard to quality of communication...” Prof. Kuan Cheng Neng, member of the design concept award jury kicks off the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2015 by articulating what he is looking forward to for the coming contest. Right now, up-and-coming talents, designers, companies and universities from all over the world have the opportunity to enter their design visions in the competition and put their whole creative potential to the test.

International communication design in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen
Smart apps, impressing posters or attention-attracting advertising films – all communication works which are on show in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, Germany, until 3 May 2015 have one thing in common: their award-winning design. The special exhibition “Design on Stage – Winners Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014” presents the latest Red Dot awarded creative achievements from around the globe.
Formosa Forms – Design trends in technology and lifestyle from Taiwan
Exhibition at the Munich Creative Business Week
Until 1 March 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents “Formosa Forms – Design trends in technology and lifestyle from Taiwan” at the Munich Creative Business Week. Using selected Taiwanese designs, the exhibition which was commissioned by the Taiwan Design Center, Taipei, documents current design developments in the fields of lifestyle and accessories. About 100 exhibits show the contrast as well as the symbiosis of tradition and modernity and illustrate the contemporary design understanding of Taiwanese manufacturers and designers.

Taiwanese Design Faces
A special exhibition which focuses on the creative minds behind award-winning designs is presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei until 29 March 2015. “Taiwanese Design Faces” tells stories – about five Taiwanese designers. The presentation introduces the people who create innovative products, convince manufacturers to produce these, and who give advice and support during the whole development process, from the idea to the finished good.

Designs with a story – in the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story”
The American entrepreneur Henry Ford once said: “Every object tells a story, if you know how to read it.” Inspired by this quote, the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story” grants exciting peeks behind the scenes of design and shows how award-winning design is characterised. Until 31 May 2015, visitors of the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong can experience the exemplarily selection of designs from various living environments and discover what is hidden under the surface.

Mercedes Car Group posts all-time sales record with three percent increase. Mercedes, awarded several times the red dot, managed this with outstanding design quality: In 2006, Mercedes-Benz increased customer deliveries by seven percent worldwide to a record level.

The annual European Design Promotion Conference, this year taking place on the 8th and 9th of January in Paris, is the meeting place of leading personalities in the field of design promotion and a forum to discuss the regional and international context of European design promotion. This year's programme will end with a birthday celebration on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Icsid, the designers´ international umbrella organisation.

The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) announced today on behalf of the International Design Alliance (IDA) the opening of the World Design Capital® (WDC) 2010 competition - a biennial international event created to showcase cities in recognition of their design excellences their focus on design as a driving force for economic, social and cultural development.

The Plagiarius exhibition in the red dot design museum has been extended to 25 February 2007. This exhibition is part of the annually awarded negative prize “Plagiarius,” which was created by Professor Rido Busse in 1977 and presents originals and counterfeits of well-known products which have received the ‘Plagiarius.’
