The results of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015 are now available. The international Red Dot jury has chosen the best entries of the year from a total of 7.451 submissions.

From 4 until 8 September 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen organises “Formosa Forms - Contemporary Tradition in Taiwanese Design” at the Maison & Objet trade fair in Paris, France.

Innovations wanted: On 26 October, the registration period of the Red Dot Award: Product Design will begin. With the help of the jury of experts, the international competition appraises the best products of the year.

Communication Salon successfully held in the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing

On the occasion of the start of China Good Design, 104 top-class guests of the Chinese design and economic scene visited the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing. The first “Communication Salon” was held under the motto “Good design for China” by Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.

Highly efficient and emotional: LED technology in the lighting sector

During the International Year of Light, technologies are focused which reduce the global emissions of greenhouse gases: for example, through the use of light-emitting diodes - LEDs. How different LEDs are already used in current designs, is shown by selected lights.


“Enduring, not ultimate form”: from “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1980 - 1997)

From 1955, the association “Industrieform e. V.” presents the “Ständige Schau formschöner Industrieerzeugnisse” (Permanent Show of Elegant Industrial Products) in the “Kleines Haus” (Small House) at Villa Hügel. From 1961 it is on show in the Old Synagogue in Essen city. In 1979, a short circuit leads to a fire that destroys the exhibition and the interior. A new location is searched and found.

The results of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015 are now available. The international Red Dot jury has chosen the best entries of the year from a total of 7.451 submissions. There were in total 17 categories in which designers, agencies and companies could submit their projects. From these, the panel of experts gave awards for the newest designs and campaigns.

Only until 23 August 2015, the Ruhr Museum and the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, present the exhibition “Enduring, not ultimate form”. Visitors can experience a journey through “60 years of design history in Essen - from ‘Industrieform’ to Red Dot” in Hall 5 at Zollverein World Heritage Site.
