New exhibition on Red Dot awarded product benchmarks from Taiwan and abroad at the Red Dot Design Area Taipei

From 7 December 2016 – 23 April 2017, the Red Dot Design Area Taipei presents a new exhibition: “Juxtapositions: Red Dot awarded Product Benchmarks from Taiwan and Abroad”. On show are Taiwanese and international objects which were granted a prize in the Red Dot Award: Product Design, one of the internationally largest product competitions. With a view to design, the presentation illustrates where Taiwan is positioned in the world.

Red Dot founder received honorary citizenship of Seoul

On 28 October 2016, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, was awarded honorary citizenship of the City of Seoul. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has been bestowing the title since 1958 to personalities who demonstrate exemplary commitment to the South Korean capital city.

Application phase 2017 has started

At the moment, designers and manufacturers can enter their products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 – one of the largest product competitions in the world. For more than 60 years, it has offered a fair and independent design benchmark.

“Under the Sign of the Circle” presents Red Dot awarded innovations from Japan

On Thursday, 24 November 2016, a new exhibition opened at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany: “Under the Sign of the Circle: Red Dot awarded Innovations from Japan”. The collection, comprised of around 100 designs from Japanese designers and manufacturers, will be on show until 19 March 2017.

On Thursday, 24 November 2016, a new exhibition opened at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany: “Under the Sign of the Circle: Red Dot awarded Innovations from Japan”. The collection, comprised of around 100 designs from Japanese designers and manufacturers, will be on show until 19 March 2017. Drafts from various fields of life are on show – from furniture to telecommunication to posters.

Under the motto “Icons of brand design”, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of the Red Dot Design Award, will give a guided tour of the exhibition “Best Communication Design – Red Dot Winners Selection 2016” in the Museum for Communication Berlin on Tuesday, 29 November 2016 at 5.30 p.m. On the basis of the exhibited projects, honoured in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, the design expert will explain the latest developments in the fields of advertising, marketing and design.


Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 – 50 free registration places for upcoming designers

Designers and manufacturers can currently register their products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017. “Young Professionals Application Day” provides an opportunity for upcoming designers to also take part in the competition. On 7 December 2016, trained designers who have graduated within the past five years have the chance to apply for one of a total of 50 free registration places. The international design competition thus gives an opportunity to those starting out on their career to prove their abilities and be compared directly against established designers and major brands from the industry.

In the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, young talents are supported in a special way. Who was able to make the Red Dot: Best of the Best sure for him- or herself, also has the opportunity to receive the Red Dot: Junior Prize for the best newcomer work, endowed with 10,000 € – this is the chance for the creative youth to make a breakthrough in design and convince potential clients of their proper skills. In 2016, the Red Dot: Junior Prize went to Taiwan: Mu-Yi Chi and Yi-Sin Lin from Tatung University in Taipei received it for their animation “Meet, or Not”.

“Under the Sign of the Circle”: This is the title of the exhibition to be presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany from 25 November 2016 to 19 March 2017 on Red Dot awarded design innovations from Japan. From living, telecommunications and media to packaging design and posters – around 100 exhibits from Japanese designers and manufacturers will be on show. The focus is on technological innovations, for which Japan is very well known.
