Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015

In search of good design and innovations

Since the beginning of November the registration phase for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 has been running. The competition, which origins date back to 1954, is one of the world’s largest and most distinguished design competitions. Manufacturers and designers from more than 75 countries take part. Chosen by an independent and renowned jury, the award increases the visibility of designers and companies, brands and products. The use of the Red Dot label is exclusively reserved for the winners of the competition. 

Exhibition: Light & Shape

Best of Belgian Design

From 28 October 2014 until 25 January 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents the special exhibition “Light & Shape: Best of Belgian Design”. From ultra-light luggage collection to unusual lamps: the exemplary selection of products from various living environments presents a cross-section of the current Belgian design standard. Touching and testing most of the exhibits is explicitly allowed, since outstanding design quality becomes apparent only in use.

 

 

Red Dot exhibition in Hong Kong

Designs with a story – in the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story”

The American entrepreneur Henry Ford once said: “Every object tells a story, if you know how to read it.” Inspired by this quote, the exhibition “Every Product Tells a Story” grants exciting peeks behind the scenes of design and shows how award-winning design is characterised. Until 31 May 2015, visitors of the HKDI Gallery in Hong Kong can experience the exemplarily selection of designs from various living environments and discover what is hidden under the surface.

 

 

Exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei

Taiwanese Design Faces

A special exhibition which focuses on the creative minds behind award-winning designs is presented in the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei from 13 November 2014 – 29 March 2015. “Taiwanese Design Faces” tells stories – about five Taiwanese designers. The presentation introduces the people who create innovative products, convince manufacturers to produce these, and who give advice and support during the whole development process, from the idea to the finished good.

The International Yearbook Communication Design 2014/2015

Every year, the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design are honoured and their works are published in an extensive reference book – for eternity. The two-volume International Yearbook Communication Design 2014/2015 is hot off the press and gives an overview of the status quo of current communication design.

 

 


Poggenpohl lands million-dollar contract in Dubai

1,600 luxury kitchens for “City of Arabia“ The oldest German furniture manufacturer landed an attractive million dollar contract in the Gulf region. Starting 2008, Poggenpohl will furnish 1,600 apartments of the residential area Wadi Walk, a part of the City of Arabia, with high-end, minimalist kitchens.

On 14 July 2007 for the first time an event of the red dot academy series entitled “profit by design, managing the process to maximise return” took place in the red dot design museum in Singapore.

The huge success that the red dot award: product design was able to record this year, is also reflected by the high public interest in the four-week long special exhibition "Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2007” at the red dot design museum. For this reason the special exhibition is now being extended until the 5th of August.

„Physical, Virtual and Cultural Connections” – that’s the exciting topic of the upcoming Icsid/IDSA CONNECTING’07 World Design Congress, which will take place from 17 until 20 October 2007 in San Francisco. The congress will offer designers from all over the world an international platform for personal contacts, discussion of problems, and future cooperation.
