Red Dot in China 2016
From 29 October until 1 November 2016, Red Dot brings the world of design to the International Conference and Exhibition Center of the South-East-Chinese metropolis Xiamen: For the fifth time in a row, Red Dot is the major partner and trade fair organiser of the Xiamen International Design Week (XIDW).

Among others, the agency 22quadrat, the Beetroot Design Group as well as the artist Yadegar Asisi can be glad about a distinction with the Red Dot label.

On Wednesday, 14 September 2016, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) opened in St. Etienne, France. Until 8 January 2017, Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world inform visitors of the Cité du Design about the merits and value of good design.

“Making a Difference / A Difference in Making”
The Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany will present the exhibition “Making a Difference / A Difference in Making” from September 27 to October 30, 2016. The collection brings together pioneering 3D-printed works of art, design, engineering and science. The exhibition is curated by Marta Malé-Alemany, architect and recognized researcher in the field of digital fabrication technologies, and produced by Materialise, a 3D printing company based in Belgium.

Communication design may release new aesthetic impulses, give food for thought – and sometimes it may help to relieve stress. red dot takes up this basic idea by selling the Japan poster “folded sun”, which has been designed by Remo Caminada, a Swiss communication designer and red dot juror, in order to help disaster victims with the proceeds.

Mobile Tail is a support stand for mobile devices, last year, it won a red dot: best of the best at the red dot award: design concept. When the mobile accessory started selling at the design museum shop, we decided to catch up with the two designers. Park Sangwoo is a chief designer at Studio O_O Korea and Park Jongwon is an industrial designer based in Seoul.

In the field of product design there are many rankings; but now, the results of the probably toughest design contest are on hand: The jury sessions of the “red dot award: product design 2011” have ended. Since today it is known who was able to stand up to the top international comparison and which companies are allowed to adorn their innovations with the renowned “red dot” – and whose products will be presented as exhibits in the red dot design museum as of 5 July 2011.

The red dot award: design concept 2011 is underway and pre-judging will begin in just over 2 months. In mid-May, a jury of 17 experts will have the important task of shortlisting the most creative, innovative yet feasible ideas and prototypes.
