The jury of the red dot award: communication design - as diverse as the entire competition
The countdown of the latecomers’ phase is on! Only until 17 June 2011 creative minds of communication design can register their works for the red dot award: communication design in up to three out of 24 categories. Whether posters, video games or company reports – an independent jury of internationally renowned experts appraises every work with a keen eye.
Prof. Oliver Kartak – the expert for TV communication
Oliver Kartak, born in Vienna in 1968, has been working in the fields of brand identity, communication design, photography and film direction for 20 years. In the early 1990s, he established DMC Wien together with Hubert Schillhuber and Neville Brody and as creative director he was in charge of the channel identities of the television stations VIVA, VIVA2, TM3 and HOT. In 1998 he opened his own office in Vienna, directing, among others, advertising spots, TV magazines and motion pictures and also published photographic works in special-interest magazines. He has received numerous international awards for his works. Since 2007, Kartak is professor for graphic design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Rainer Hirt – knows how to make brands audible
Rainer Hirt, born in 1979, studied communication design at the University of Applied Sciences in Constance. After graduating, he founded together with Michael Hoppe and Markus Reiner "audity", an agency that specialises in audio branding, audio interaction and audio experience. Back in 2003, he had already founded the corporate sound Internet platform audio-branding.de, a well known expert resource on the topic of sound branding. Rainer Hirt is, among other things, the author and co-editor of the "Audio-Branding" compendium. He is in charge of research projects at various universities and, in 2009, founded together with Kai Bronner and Cornelius Ringe the "Audio Branding Academy", the first independent institution for acoustic brand communication.
Michel de Boer – internationality for decades
Michel de Boer, born in 1954, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Higher Technologies in Rotterdam. In 1989 he became creative managing partner at Studio Dumbar, where he is responsible for the creative output. With more than 25 years of experience in corporate design, brand identity and graphic design, Michel de Boer has worked for clients around the world. He has won numerous awards and takes part in international design conferences. In 2005 Michel de Boer became professor at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice, Italy.
