Kuala Lumpur Design Week: Prof. Dr. Peter Zec on the economic importance of design

Already for years, the Kuala Lumpur Design Week (KLDW) ranks among Malaysia’s most important series of events for the creative sector. Every year, students, up-and-coming talents and designers from all over the world come together, to socialise and to swap ideas on the latest trends in design. The festival consists of a series of events, conferences and exhibitions which deal with the creative industries and the underlying connections between innovation, production, and creativity.

Still by 25 September 2011, design will be put on focus of Malaysia’s vibrant capital city. In the course of the International Creative Entrepreneur Colloquium the participants discussed how the creative industry can shape the economy. On 17 September, besides international and regional economists, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of red dot, gave a lecture in which he emphasized design as a very important factor for economic success. During his presentation the expert reverted to numerous case studies and underlined the economic relevance of outstanding design. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec encouraged his audience to embrace design as part of their corporate strategy. Subsequently, he answerd questions of the audience with expert knowledge on the design value.
