"red dot award: communication design 2011" - huge interest in the premiere in Berlin!
On 7 October 2011, it’s finally happening: In its more than fifty years of history, red dot celebrates its first award ceremony in Germany’s capital city Berlin. By now, the host of the evening, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of red dot, is pleased with a full house: “For the first time, Berlin becomes the stage of prize-winning communication design. I’m very glad that we received such a positive feedback and that the red dot gala is already full up. In 2011, I may welcome about 1,300 guests to the highlight of the “red dot award: communication design”. That is triply more creative minds from all over the world compared to the previous year.”
In the noble atmosphere of the Konzerthaus Berlin, not only the proud laureates will be welcomed on stage, but also design experts such as Laurent Lacour, Jianping He or Rainer Hirt as well as German TV host Günther Jauch. The cultural framework programme of the festive award ceremony will be shaped by “saxophone-actor & composer” Dietmar Diesner. As a practitioner of so-called “real-time composition and performance", he includes exterior circumstances such as the reaction of his listeners spontaneously and intuitively into his work. Thus, he composes his tracks just in the second of their development in order to interpret a unique moment musically and hold on to it.
After the red dot gala, the party is far from being over: Within the Designers’ Night, the laureates will party together with representatives from economy, the media, design and politics at the Alte Münze Berlin to the sounds of DJ Pearl and Alle Farben (Kallias). There, they can also discover the special exhibition „Design on stage – winners red dot award: communication design 2011“ at first hand. It will be on show from 8 till 16 October 2011 in Germany’s capital city and presents - besides all winners - also the “red dot: agency of the year 2011” with its self-deprecatingly display of “The Greek Monsters” in a highlighted area.
