Special exhibition "Design on stage" at the Alte Münze Berlin
The Designers' Night at the Alte Münze Berlin does not only make the international creative scene celebrate on 7 October 2011, it is also the vernissage and thus the beginning of a very special exhibition: From 8 – 16 October 2011, under the motto "Design on stage", awarded works of communication design turn one of the hippest locations of central Berlin into a hot-spot for everyone, who wants to be up to date in design.
The exhibition presents the winners of the “red dot award: communication design 2011”. Among them is the creative packaging design by Scholz & Friends Identity, which convinces with a hardness test: The waterproof watch “Profundo” by Festina is packed in a transparent bag filled with distilled water and therefore does not only win over the trust of those interested, but also gets their entire attention. Furthermore, Martina Morth's annual report of the Grim Reaper will also be shown, which was awarded with the “red dot: junior prize”. The work “Economic revival through death” grants macabre, but also interesting insights into the most successful year since the beginning of the “undertaking”.
Traditionally, the “red dot: agency of the year” shows its creative works in an exclusive area within the special exhibition. The team of the Beetroot Design Group presents itself self-ironically as “The Greek Monsters” - an allusion on the current criticism passed on everything from Greece. Because: Even though Greece is considered to be the evil monster of Europe right now, one recognises on closer inspection that the hot-blooded country can also shine! With the creative heads of Beetroot it presents outstanding and very successful communication design, which won over the red dot jury in 2011.
As red dot hosts a special exhibition in Berlin for the very first time, a major focus is put on the effort to popularise the value of communication design for the client's success. To point this out, winning products of the “red dot award: product design” can also be found in the Alte Münze Berlin. They illustrate that the success of extraordinarily designed products is closely connected with creative communication. Especially communication design doesn't make people only marvel, think or laugh: It also makes its clients look good! Therefore, the investment in extraordinary ways of communication is an important part of economical prosperity.
