The grand finale: Award ceremony of the "red dot award: design concept 2011" in Singapore
On 25 November 2011, the international design world looked at the glittering finale of the “red dot award: design concept 2011” in Singapore and thus on the trendsetters of tomorrow which have been honoured within a festive award ceremony.
All awarded concepts are sparkling with creativity and courage and grant an insight into the thrilling world of design. During a process, which lasted several days, the jury that consists of international design experts, examined 3,536 works submitted from 54 countries. After a tough but fair judging, 252 concepts were awarded the red dot – 43 were honoured with the “red dot: best of the best”. The suspense rose: Within the award ceremony, the winners of the “red dot: luminary” have been announced. The three nominees Frida Concept Robot by ABB from Sweden, Wildfire Truck Concept Holdings Corporation from Japan by Morita and Microbial Home by Philips Design from the Netherlands shared reasonable hope for the top prize within the competition. With its performance "Perceptio", PMP Collective, an audio-visual performance group, which was founded in 2009, gave a reference to the winner of this year's “red dot: luminary”. In the end, Philips Design succeeded by presenting the concept of a Microbial Home, the perfect symbiosis between house and eco-system.
On this special evening, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot design award and Ken Koo, President of red dot Singapore, also presented the "red dot design concept yearbook 2011/2012", which offers a comprehensive insight into the best international design ideas and concepts. Following the award ceremony, top-class guests from business, politics, culture and design celebrated a great party and raised a toast to the winners of this year's “red dot award: design concept”.
