Pre-announcement: "German Design Standards" will be presented in Hong Kong

A new title will catch the attention of the design world by the end of this year in Hong Kong: "German Design Standards – From Bauhaus to Globalisation". The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) will hold the German Design Standards exhibition at HKDI Gallery from December 2012 to March 2013, showcasing exhibits from the red dot design museum and Neue Sammlung – The International Design Museum Munich – on the evolution of German design from a historical, cultural and aesthetic perspective.

The exhibition spans the first decades of the 20th century to the present. The exhibition will showcase over 150 items, of which 20-30 items are historical exhibits and the remaining are examples of modern product design – a focused selection of classics and surprises from the hidden depot of the Neue Sammlung, the biggest and oldest design museum in the world. It is hoped that students will gain inspiration and knowledge from the exhibition. This special presentation will also be accompanied by an excellent book publication, already the third one in the “German Design Standards” line, by red dot president Professor Dr. Peter Zec.
