Special exhibition: Style Porsche - The Future of History
There is hardly an automobile manufacturer who treasures the design-DNA of its cars as much as Porsche. Until 29 July 2012 visitors of the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, can see for themselves, in the special exhibition “Style Porsche – The Future of History”.
It’s a real icon and an excellent example for successful and sustainable design – the 911. Being the beating heart of Porsche, it has been coining the DNA of the car manufacturer for centuries. From generation to generation, essential genetic information is passed on. This contributes to the 911 staying the 911, which is always recognised as such in spite of all innovation. Shaped by the topography of the hood, the traditional air intakes instead of a front grill, the downward sloping and tapered rear window as well as distinctive rear fenders and a visible tailpipe, Porsche stays true to itself – and, above all, self-similar.
Under the motto “The Future of History”, visitors of the red dot design museum can experience the achievements of the “red dot: design team of the year” in a special exhibition. In order to illustrate the creative development, Porsche presents two vehicles at the centre of its exhibition: a historic 911 as well as the current model which was awarded the “red dot: best of the best” lately. But also the other generations of the sports car invite to a journey into history: step by step, the guest can actively discover the innovations in the White Hall of the museum. In addition, they get an interactive insight into the evolutionary design of Michael Mauer & Style Porsche – into “The Future of History”.
Also until 29 July 2012, award-winning products will be shown in the special exhibition “Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2012/2013”. Furthermore, the exhibition “Moving Materials” presents a selection of materials offering possibilities that make sense and are sensuous at the same time and inspire designers and architects to constantly develop new products.
