Just in time for the 51st CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF, the proud laureates of this year’s “caravaning design award” were honoured on 25 August 2012. In addition, it was also announced who was able to convince in the course of an online voting and was thus awarded the newly introduced public prize for its designs.
The “caravaning design award: innovations for new mobility”, which is held by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH every two years in cooperation with red dot GmbH & Co. KG, selects the best designs of the caravan and motorhome industry. In 2012, 92 submissions from nine countries have been registered. From caravans and interior products to tents and camping equipment, innovative product designs for holidays in the wild have been called to participate. Among all entries, a jury of five renowned experts from the field of design and the trade press awarded 30 distinctions.
These successes were celebrated adequately: In the morning of 25 August 2012, manufacturers, designers and marketing decision makers met at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany for the awards ceremony of the “caravaning design award”. In the course of an exclusive reception, the laureates received their certificates from the hands of Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of red dot, as well as Helmut Winkler, Director of the CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF. The jury had bestowed ten times the distinction “caravaning design award: honourable mention” for well-executed detail solutions as well as 15 times the “caravaning design award: innovations for new mobility“ for special design achievements in form and function.
Moreover, the competition’s highest accolade, the “caravaning design award: best practice“ was given to four products – the best of the starting field. For their outstanding and pioneering designs, Knaus Tabbert GmbH, ALOIS KOBER GmbH and Truma Gerätetechnik GmbH & Co. KG received the coveted award on stage. Besides being awarded the ?highest accolade, Tecnoform S.p.a. was also glad about being honoured with the special prize “caravaning design award: best interior design”. The manufacturer had convinced the expert panel with the design of the interior furnishing for caravan and motorhome “TDL – Tecnoform Design Lab”.
This year, besides the jury, the public had a say for the first time: Via an online voting, caravaning fans were invited to choose their favourite in the categories “Caravans” as well as “Motorhomes and basic vehicles”. Thereby, 38,160 votes were cast for the selection of the “caravaning design award: the public choice”.
The proud laureates who were awarded the newly introduced title of honour, are Knaus Tabbert GmbH and Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk Ing. Harald Striewski GmbH. Knaus Tabbert convinced the voters with the motorcaravan “Van TI” as well as with the caravan “Grande Puccini”, while Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk won over the public with the motorhome “Hobby Premium Van 65 GE” and the caravan “Hobby Premium 560 CFe”.
