red dot dinner brings Asian design scene together
For years, red dot maintains, extends and intensifies contacts in the Asian region. To demonstrate presence in further parts of Asia than just in Singapore with the red dot design museum, red dot traditionally organises a red dot dinner at the end of the year. It is a platform for creative exchange between red dot laureates and CEOs of well-known companies. This year, Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot, invited to exclusive dinners in the Taiwanese metropolis Taipei and the South Korean capital Seoul.
On 10 December 2012, about 100 guests followed the invitation to the red dot dinner which took place at the “VVK Thinking” in Taipei. With its unique ambience, the hip location was the perfect venue for the event that was arranged in collaboration with the Taiwan Design Center (TDC). Together with Tony Chang, red dot juror and Manager of the Taiwan Design Center, Professor Dr. Zec welcomed representatives from more than 40 design orientated companies, which participated in the networking event.
2 days later, red dot invited them for dinner. Amongst the about 100 invited guests were Chul-Ho Kim, former head of design at LG and juror of the “red dot award: design concept”, the latest Icsid President, Soon-In Lee, as well as red dot jury member Prof. Ken Nah. The “red dot: agency of the year” was also featured: Kum-Jun Park, whose agency 601bisang was honoured at the “red dot award: communication design 2012” with the highest accolade, represented the creative potential of Asia.
In the course of the evening, the red dot team answered the attendees’ questions regarding the “red dot award: product design 2013” competition and presented activities which carry the idea of design around the globe. Latest example: Still until 4 March 2013, the exhibition “German Design Standards – From Bauhaus to Globalisation” presents the success story of German design at the HKDI Gallery in Hongkong.
