In close cooperation with the Basel School of Design and the Academy of Art and Design FHNW, red dot will be presenting an exhibition of outstanding communication design in Basel, Switzerland, from 15 January to 2 February 2013.

The posters for the whole “Design on Stage“ campaign in Basel have been designed by the Chinese artist Xia Zheng, who lives and works in Zurich. She has portrayed all this year´s prize-winners in traditional oil paintings.

Over 500 prize-winning pieces representing all aspects of communication design from 43 different countries will be presented in a big show in the exhibition rooms of the Basel School of Design on the Lyss and at the Maurerhalle belonging to the Basel School of Design and the Academy of Art and Design FHNW.

This exhibition of the 2012/2013 entries is an impressive demonstration of just how complex and varied the expectations of modern communication design have become. Covering everything from games design, advertising and posters to everyday packaging, the "red dot award: communication design" encompasses the whole spectrum of modern design.

There are also separate sections showcasing the current "red dot: design agency of the year", 601bisang in South Korea, the "red dot: client of the year 2012", Mercedes-Benz, and all the Swiss red dot winners.

For the first time, the Maurerhalle belonging to the Basel School of Design and the Academy of Art and Design FHNW is also involved. That is where all of this year´s works of the "red dot: junior award" will be presented.

This exhibition is a must for anyone who takes an interest in design and communication and keeps a sharp eye on our brand-focused world.
