Create. Furnish. Live. - imm cologne 2013 starts on 14 January 2013

What interior design trends will dominate 2013? The imm cologne, where the most innovative furniture trends of the industry from 14 to 20 January 2013 will be presented, is one highlight of the new design year. Right at the beginning, the international furnishing show offers a comprehensive overview of the latest collections of furniture design.

This year again, the trade show in Cologne, Germany, will serve as a trend barometer of modern furniture and interior design; this is due not least to the top-class exhibitors. A high number of manufacturers and brands – the who's who of the world of furniture – will transform the imm cologne for seven days to the central meeting place for suppliers and decision makers from all important markets of the world. In the exhibition halls of the “Koelnmesse”, over 1,200 international furniture manufacturers and designers from 50 countries will present their latest products. Furnishings for living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, and kitchen, but also lamps, textile products and accessories will be displayed.

Many manufacturers consider the imm cologne as the most important exhibition platform. In addition, exhibitors underline with their developments many important trends such as sustainability, unique design and functionality. Upholstery appear to be very convenient this year. Furniture have to be comfortable, like relaxing in a lounge. Everything is becoming more and more curvy. Reinterpretations of popular classics often dominate and therefore add some variety.

The range is manifold: extravagance meets simplicity – with a measure of nostalgia. This is also permitted. Bright colours are not as popular as before, but gentler, softer tones and colour combinations are on the rise. One thing is clear: Through unique design and the use of smart materials, manufacturers want to stand out from the competition in 2013. Visitors as well as the expert audience can look forward to the full range of modern interiors and can be sure to find an answer to the question of what furniture and furnishing trends will prevail in the new year.
