Call for papers: seminar on new production forms and innovative materials in the red dot design museum
On 2 July 2013, the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, is hosting a seminar on the subject “New production forms and innovative materials for design and architecture”. An international audience is invited to exchange their experiences in the field of new production processes and innovative materials. Therefore, designers, architects, engineers and material developers around the world are called upon to apply with their papers for their chance to become a speaker and give insights into the latest developments and their projects. The deadline for entries is 27 May 2013.
Which new production forms are revolutionising the work of designers, architects, engineers and material developers around the world? How do new, innovative manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing or laser cutting, influence the design process? And to what extent do they contribute to developing innovative products for a better life as well as for an intact environment? Participants from all over the world will discuss these and other questions on 2 July 2013 in the course of the seminar “New production forms and innovative materials for design and architecture” in the red dot design museum.
The speakers should focus on current approaches, developments and opportunities as well as projects regarding new production forms and innovative materials in design and architecture. They have the chance to speak in front of approximately 80 international seminar participants and present their remarks in a 15-20 minute lecture on one of the following key subjects:
• New production forms
• Innovative materials
Those interested are asked to send a short CV (approx. ten lines/550 characters) as well as an abstract of the presentation (approx. 30 lines/1,650 characters) in English to Ms Sora Lina Loesch (firstname.lastname@example.org). The deadline for submissions is 27 May 2013. The organiser will select a total of six to eight papers.
The seminar “New production forms and innovative materials for design and architecture” is part of the EU project PROUD (People Researchers Organisations Using Design for innovation and co-creation).
PROUD (People Researchers Organisations Using Design for co-creation and innovation) is a European project with the objective to make Europe a better place by co-designing for all and by all. PROUD brings designers together with public organisations, businesses and user communities to experience the added value of design thinking and design, while working on innovative solutions for today’s real-world problems.
