Seminar on new forms of production and innovative materials in the red dot design museum
On 2 July 2013, the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany, invites to the seminar “New production forms and innovative materials for design and architecture”. Experts from around the world will give insights into the opportunities offered by using new materials and innovative forms of production. Furthermore, they will inform the attendants about how new materials turn into design potentials for designers, but also how traditional materials can be interpreted in new ways. Anyone interested can register as a participant until 26 June. The attendance is free of charge.
Which new forms of production revolutionise the work of designers, architects, engineers and material developers around the world? How do new, innovative manufacturing techniques, such as 3D printing, influence the design process? And to what extent do they contribute to the development of innovative products for a better life as well as for an intact environment? The ten speakers will discuss these and other questions together with the participants of the seminar on 2 July 2013 in the red dot design museum in Essen, Germany.
One of the speakers is Prof. Anke Bernotat from the German Folkwang University of the Arts. She will report on the “CELLULAR LOOP“ chair, which was produced with 3D printing technique. An insight into new design possibilities offered by thermoplastic composites is provided by Arnt Offringa, Director R & D of the Dutch company Fokker Aerostructures. In addition, Dr. Vincent Mathier from Switzerland, Innovation Project Manager at Innovation Cells, will introduce the new, foamed aluminium “Corevo”. Moreover, a winner of the “red dot: best of the best” ranks among the speakers: Kenneth Ho Chun Kin from Hong Kong, Designer and Co-founder of Alchemist Creations Company Limited, who will discuss innovative and sustainable product design.
Further information and the registration form can be found at www.red- dot.de/seminar2013. The attendance is free of charge.
The seminar “New production forms and innovative materials for design and architecture” is part of the EU project PROUD (People Researchers Organisations Using Design for innovation and co-creation).
PROUD (People Researchers Organisations Using Design for co-creation and innovation) is a European project with the objective to make Europe a better place by co-designing for all and by all. PROUD brings designers together with public organisations, businesses and user communities to experience the added value of design thinking and design, while working on innovative solutions for today’s real-world problems. PROUD helps and supports designers to have the right facilities, knowledge and expertise to play this key role in innovating, improving and consolidating Europe.
