Red Dot Award: Communication Design – “Early Bird” registration ends on 2 April

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 is well underway. They can submit their works and projects to the international competition within the “Early Bird” registration phase until 2 April and benefit from the reduced registration fee of the first submission period.

Award-winning design and its makers: “Iceberg Songs”

The top individual award is the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the award was granted to the website “Iceberg Songs” designed by Serviceplan and Pan.Net for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and gives a silent phenomenon a sound identity.

The "Red Dot: Best of the Best" is the highest award of the Red Dot Award. In 2016, "kayak" by designer Patrick Norguet got the Award. The design of the chair focused on exploring the possibilities of wood.

The Red Dot Institute filters the results of the Red Dot Design Award according to different criteria and creates, among others, rankings. Annually, it releases the Red Dot Design Ranking, honouring the leading organisations who have continuously invested in design and in innovation. The Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 for design concepts recognises the top companies, design studios and universities with unceasing pursuance towards design excellence.

At the heart of the Red Dot Award: Product Design is its jury. With their specialist knowledge, some 40 recognised experts from around the world guarantee the high quality standards and thus the value of the Red Dot seal. Soon, they will gather again in order to test, discuss and assess every single entry in an evaluation process lasting several days. Part of the expert panel in 2017 will be Gordon Bruce, who knows about the importance of good design for the success of a product.

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects of high design quality. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of all entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. The Create + Think Design Studio was awarded this distinction for the interior design of the A’tolan House.

The registration phase of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 runs only until 8 February. The Red Dot jury assesses thousands of entries from all around the world and assigns the Red Dot for good design quality. The awarded manufacturers and designers use the winner label for their communications and also profit from further “Winners‘ Benefits”, among others the presentation of the award-winning products in the Red Dot App.
