International Yearbook Communication Design 2017/2018 presents Red Dot awarded creative achievements

On 14 November 2017, the International Yearbook Communication Design 2017/2018 will be published. It gives an overview in words and pictures of the works which received a prize in the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017: from packaging design to posters, typographies, online projects and advertising campaigns to annual reports and apps.

China Good Design is in full swing: Until 25 July 2017, designers and manufacturers from all over the world can hand in their products for the competition, organised by Red Dot and the Xiamen Media Group, and thus win one of fifty free registrations. All products that were manufactured within an industrial production process, can be assessed by the international expert jury. The aim is to highlight high-quality products, manufactured by global companies, on the Chinese market and to recognise their outstanding quality.


Top honour for first-class achievement – Canyon is Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017

The title of honour “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017” goes to Koblenz: The Canyon Design Team will be included in the “Hall of Fame” of international design for its consistent and unparalleled design performance. This year alone, two bicycles were awarded the top award, Red Dot: Best of the Best. The constant best achievements and new impetus in the industry will be honoured on 3 July as part of the Red Dot Gala, when the designers from Canyon will receive their trophy and thus the “Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2017” title on stage at Essen’s Aalto-Theater.

In February, 39 experts from all over the world convened in Essen to assess thousands of objects for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in a process spanning several days. Only designs that won over the jury with their high design quality were awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”, and the best of them received the highest award “Red Dot: Best of the Best” – among them: the Omni Nightclub Taipei by The LOOP Inc., designed by Etai-Space Design Office.

In 1955, the “Ständige Schau formschöner Industrieerzeugnisse” (Permanent Show of Elegant Industrial Products) was established in Villa Hügel in Essen, Germany. It evolved over the years to become the Red Dot Design Museum. Today, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design. It currently houses around 2,000 international design objects in the former boiler house of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex. All exhibits are award-winning design works from the Red Dot Design Award which is organised in three disciplines: product design, communication design and design concept.
