Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 – Last chance for “Latecomer”

Designers, agencies and companies from all over the world only have until 9 June 2017 to submit their projects for the international advertised Red Dot Award: Communication Design in 18 categories. A 24-member jury will evaluate every single contribution individually and award the Red Dot seal exclusively to those who convince with good design quality and creativity.

The heart of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design is the jury. With its expertise, it assesses thousands of submissions each year on the basis of established criteria. Some of these experts are repeatedly part of the jury. Among others Shu Chang Kung, Renne Angelvuo, Seung Hun Yoo and Jean Jacques Schaffner will select the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017.

In February, 39 experts from all over the world convened in Essen to assess thousands of objects for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 in a process spanning several days. Only designs that won over the jury with their high design quality were awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”, and the best of them received the highest award “Red Dot: Best of the Best” – among them: the fire extinguisher “Saviore” by ZINIZ, designed by Pei-Lun Sung.

The award opens agencies, designers and companies the doors to a worldwide network of creative minds and design-oriented companies, and offers the winners exclusive opportunities to communicate their success. Revitalisation of Iconic Chair

The California-based design studio BMW Group DesignworksUSA and an aluminium chair company, Emeco have revitalised an iconic Emeco chair popular in the 1950s. The recreation was prompted by the discovery of the original chair on the auction website eBay. Designed by Adrian van Hooydonk, the modern “1951” version will debut at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, taking place from April 13 to April 19, 2005.
