Red Dot Award: Communication Design – “Early Bird” registration ends on 2 April

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 is well underway. They can submit their works and projects to the international competition within the “Early Bird” registration phase until 2 April and benefit from the reduced registration fee of the first submission period.

Award-winning design and its makers: “Iceberg Songs”

The top individual award is the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the award was granted to the website “Iceberg Songs” designed by Serviceplan and Pan.Net for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and gives a silent phenomenon a sound identity.

From origami to hightech: Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents exhibition on Japanese design

Entitled “Under the Sign of the Circle”, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents an exhibition of Japanese products until 19 March 2017. From electronic drums to extravagant packaging to origami chair: Around 100 exhibits invite visitors to discover Japanese design. A special is that visitors can touch and test numerous exhibits.

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects with high quality design. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of around 5,200 entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. It goes to the best products of a category, among them the Fully Automatic Coffee Maker “Promesso”. Red Dot asked the jury what they particularly appreciated about the design of this chair, and talked to the designers of Jacobs Douwe Egberts.


Today is Young Professionals Application Day – 50 registration places for upcoming designers

Only today, on 7 December 2016, the Young Professionals Application Day takes place. For 24 hours, trained designers who have graduated within the past five years have the chance to apply for one of a total of 50 free registration places. The Red Dot Award: Product Design thus gives an opportunity to those starting out on their career to prove their abilities and be compared directly against established designers and major brands from the industry.
