Red Dot Award: Communication Design – “Early Bird” registration ends on 2 April
The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 is well underway. They can submit their works and projects to the international competition within the “Early Bird” registration phase until 2 April and benefit from the reduced registration fee of the first submission period.

From 6 April – 21 May 2017, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany will become a hot-spot for creative achievements from around the world. With its new special exhibition “World’s Best Communication Design and Highlights from NRW” it showcases the latest trends, strategies and projects of the regional and international communication design scene.

Award-winning design and its makers: “Iceberg Songs”
The top individual award is the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the award was granted to the website “Iceberg Songs” designed by Serviceplan and Pan.Net for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and gives a silent phenomenon a sound identity.

Red Dot Design-Ranking 2016 – outstanding performances by institutions
The Red Dot Design Ranking for design concepts tracks and measures the success of an organisation in producing exciting new design concepts over a period of time. The Red Dot jury of 21 international design experts awarded five institutions with the Red Dot: Best of the Best, in recognition of the outstanding effort and quality designs, one of them is "ENSCI - Les Ateliers".

The "Red Dot: Best of the Best" is the highest award of the Red Dot Award. In 2016, "kayak" by designer Patrick Norguet got the Award. The design of the chair focused on exploring the possibilities of wood.

On 9 November 2016, the “Design Korea” trade fair opened, which brings Korean and international companies, designers and buyers together. Visitors can inform themselves about current trends and use the forum for networking until 13 November. Red Dot is on site, too, and presents current prize-winning products in the course of its “Red Dot on Tour” programme. The Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) hosts the business event since 2003, which is organised by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP).

Already since the middle of the 1990s, the Red Dot Award maintains excellent contacts and partnerships with South Korea. Numerous Korean designers and manufacturers participate in the competition and use the well-known Red Dot seal to set themselves apart from their competitors on the market and to attract attention to the good design quality of their products. Moreover, Red Dot CEO Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, as initiator of the “World Design Capital” programme, had substantially contributed that the South Korean capital Seoul received this title in 2010, which is granted by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid).

Yesterday marked the celebration of the highlight of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016. The best designers of the year were presented with their trophies at the Red Dot Gala in Berlin. Communication designers and marketing professionals from around the world were celebrated for their design achievements in the Konzerthaus Berlin in the presence of an international audience. The winners of the Red Dot: Grand Prix have reason to be especially pleased. This year, the highest individual award was bestowed a total of nine times. The event was hosted by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot who led the proceedings, together with the jurors and speakers.

From 29 October until 1 November 2016, Red Dot brought the world of design to the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center in China. For the fifth time in a row, Red Dot was the major partner and trade fair organiser of the Xiamen International Design Week (XIDW). With an exhibition area of 12,000 square meters, the fair focused on the curation topic of international design awards, being one of the largest-scale design week events in the Asia-Pacific region. This year, Red Dot again presented a selection of current Red Dot awarded products and communication designs in its booth.
