The work for the jury of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2017 will begin soon. Only entries submitted at the Early and Standard submission periods qualify for prejudging.

Award-winning design and its makers: “Iceberg Songs”
The top individual award is the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the award was granted to the website “Iceberg Songs” designed by Serviceplan and Pan.Net for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and gives a silent phenomenon a sound identity.

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 has commenced. It offers agencies, designers and companies from all over the world a platform for evaluating their design and creative achievements. Until 2 April, they can submit their works and projects to the international competition featuring 18 categories.

At the heart of the Red Dot Award: Product Design is its jury. In the end of February they gathered in order to test, discuss and assess every single entry in an evaluation process lasting several days. Part of the panel in 2017 will be Aleks Tatic again.

The "Red Dot: Best of the Best" is the highest award of the Red Dot Award. In 2016, "kayak" by designer Patrick Norguet got the Award. The design of the chair focused on exploring the possibilities of wood.

Early submission discounts end on 31 January 2017. Participants should prepare and submit entries for the award before 1 February 2017 to take advantage of the discounts.

The preparatory phase of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 is in full swing. Designers and manufacturers only have until 8 February to submit their current products in the international competition. There are 47 categories to choose from that reflect the wide range of industrially produced goods.

On 27 February 2017, the Red Dot Award: Communication Design will start into a new competition's year and will be in search for the worldwide best communication solutions. Last year, the German agency Serviceplan managed to ensure itself the honourary title as Red Dot: Agency of the Year. Red Dot spoke to Alexander Schill, Chief Creative Officer of the Serviceplan Group.

Currently, the registration phase of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 is on. The regular registration ends on 20 January 2017. The Red Dot jury assesses thousands of entries from all around the world and assigns the Red Dot for good design quality. The awarded manufacturers and designers use the winner label for their communications and also profit from further benefits. The Red Dot Design Museum Essen presents an exhibition of a very special type.

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects of high design quality. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of all entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. It goes to the best products of a category, among them the IKEA bike “SLADDA”. Red Dot asked the jury what they particularly appreciated about the design of this bike, and talked to the designers Oskar Juhlin, Kristian Eke und Jan Puranen from Veryday.
