HELIX-Akantus was founded in 1989 by Rolf Bürger, Cornelius van den Hövel and Gerhard Scherbinski-von Volkmann. Until 1999, HELIX-Akantus designed, produced and marketed its own interior lighting fixtures collection, HELIX, and collections of tableware and interior accessories, Akantus. Since 1994, the HELIX-Akantus team has designed and created products for many well-known companies. Some of these products have gone on to become design classics. A focal point of HELIX-Akantus’ activity has been the development of strategies linked to product design. The significance of function and the relationship between product and consumer are just as important for the designer as a clear design language combined with high quality details.
