Understanding begins with perception. So one of the principal characteristics of Waidmann/Post designs, immediate at first sight, is the effort we make to guide perception through clear structure, a structure that facilitates quick understanding. This commitment is evident from initial draft to completion. Our approach to interpreting the functions of visual communication is a classical one: focusing on the quintessence of complex interrelationships, whether one is dealing with a company profile, the look of a trade fair, a book design, etc. – we aim with every design to imbue complex, multi-faceted interrelationships with a structure that facilitates understanding, as well as to conceptualise them with clarity. Waidmann/Post apply intellect to their projects with the knowledge that perception – and consequently, understanding – make demands on our rational perception. Most importantly, however, Waidmann/Post incorporate their own highly personal ideas, since it is design informed by individuality that fosters distinctiveness.
