The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Gassner | Holst is a project-oriented collaboration between two individual design studios for the development of complex corporate
design programmes particularly in the cultural sphere. Depending on the task, the design team is joined by designers from other disciplines such as architecture or informatics. The working cooperative aims at designing autonomous, vivid and enduring visual communications. Christof Gassner, born in 1941, studied at Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich. After working in the industry and in publishing, he founded his own design studio in Frankfurt/Main, later in Darmstadt. From 1986 to 2006, he was a professor of graphic design at the FH Darmstadt, and then at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale and works mainly in print design: editorial design and typography, as well as book, poster and stamp design. Katrin Holst, born in 1971, studied communication design at FH Darmstadt and the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague. After working freelance for several agencies in Schwäbisch Gmünd and Frankfurt/Main, she founded her own design studio in Darmstadt in 2000, specialising in corporate images, information and orientation systems, corporate communications, trade fair and exhibition design.
