Schaffner & Conzelmann AG

Designersfactory

Jean Jacques Schaffner, born in Basel in 1954, began to study graphic design at the age of 15 at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel, a school well-known for its use of Bauhaus-like training. As early as 1976, he founded the Designersfactory with his business and life partner Silvana Conzelmann, a designer who has resisted any kind of over-specialisation right from the start. Jean Jacques Schaffner sees himself as a craftsman in the tradition of his teachers Donald Brun, Armin Hofmann, Adrian Frutiger and many more. After extensive study visits to California, they integrated the then revolutionary Macintosh as well as a photo studio in 1984 and later a department for interactive media and Internet applications.
