Tokujin Yoshioka Design

Tokujin Yoshioka, born in 1967, graduated from Kuwasawa Design School. From 1987 to 1988 he worked in the offices of Shiro Kuramata in the Miyake Design Studio in charge of Issey Miyake’s shop design. In 1992, Tokujin Yoshioka started as a freelance designer and established Tokujin Yoshioka Design in 2000: “To me, design is not making but creating. It is not about explaining with words but feeling it. Design is attractive because it cannot be fully expressed in words. Creating something that has never existed requires a great effort – as much as when a mother gives birth to a child. However, design makes it possible to bring joy and surprise to many people of all ages, beyond language, race and nationality. It can also bring happiness changing one’s life magically.”
