Trend: The transparency of architecture and product design
What relationship is there between architecture, industrial design and the definition of space? This is one of this year’s main topics in the category "Architecture and Interior Design." The focus is directed towards objects and light, that shape the interior of architectural spaces. "Space comes to life in objects,” the jury members Marten Claesson, Florian Hufnagl und Kaspar Kraemer say.
The shape of furnishings is playing an important role in architecture and design. Moreover, it made good sense to consider various factors in evaluating a product, which, in itself, had to be understood always as part of architecture. The products in the competition represent a symbiosis between architecture and product design; borders become blurred.
To the category of Interior Design, the furnishing of mobile spaces is of great importance. A crucial and current theme is the experience of “travelling.” Innovative in travelling is interpretation and philosophy; space increasingly becomes multi-purpose by adapting to the individual needs of travellers. And, more than ever, mobility has become the experience of a brand: the brand enters the focus of attention – dramatically and emotionally.
