Trend: Technological innovations and appealing surfaces

Innovations in bathrooms mainly refer to the surfaces. A "great leap forward,” according to the jury, is the ever-growing importance of finishes. The result: Wash-basins and baths acquire an interesting new appeal, and these new surfaces increase the tactile and visual quality of the products. In the category "Bathrooms, Heating, Sanitation and Air-conditioning," Werner Aisslinger, Kenneth Grange and Bruno Sacco summed up their impression that one got the feeling that “a lot effort went into innovation.” New companies entered the contest and, due to a very high level of design, they were able to compete effectively with the market leaders.

In the range of wellness it is apparent that technology plays an increasingly important role and physical fitness also gains significance in the domestic sector. Another trend can be observed in the neat design of sanitary objects, which were hitherto kept somewhat hidden from view. In this way, they manifested a “consistent corporate design,” the jury concluded.
