International design experts select the best design concepts

The basis of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2016 is formed by the experts of the Red Dot jury. This year, it is comprised of 20 internationally recognised designers, professors, specialised journalists and publishers. Thanks to their backgrounds and experiences, the jury members can especially appreciate the cultural characteristics of design.

Last year, the new design of the television station France 4 was honoured with the Red Dot: Grand Prix in the category film & animation. The advertising agency Gédéon realigned the entertainment channel for music, movies, series and art formats as a true cross-media platform while setting a focos on the interaction with the audience.

In 2016, the Red Dot: Design Team of the Year will travel half way around the globe to receive the “Radius” challenge cup in Essen, Germany. Blackmagic Industrial Design Team led by Simon Kidd from Australia is to receive the highest honorary title of the Red Dot Design Award.

As the end of the standard submission period draws near to the close, the panel of jury is eagerly awaiting to preview the latest collection of futuristic and innovation design ideas that could revolutionise our way of life. Concepts will have to excel through 6 criteria to win the jury’s vote and the coveted Red Dot. The challenges for the concepts include: degree of innovation, aesthetic quality, realisation possibility, functionality and usefulness, manufacturing efficiency and the emotional content of the concept.

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design is geared toward all design and marketing professionals, from agencies to design offices and freelancers to companies. The expert jury has chosen - the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 have been announced

They tested, assessed, criticised and discussed. After a jury session spanning three long days, the team of experts had reached a consensus: the best products of 2014 have been chosen. A record number of designers and companies from all over the world took part in this year’s competition by submitting their innovations for the renowned design award that is the Red Dot. With 4,815 entries, the Red Dot Award: Product Design received the highest-ever number of entries and at the same time added some new countries to the list of participants.
