The jury session of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2015 is finished. During three intense days, numerous works from all over the world were examined and evaluated by the 27-headed jury. Now it is time to wait and look forward to Berlin.

Highly efficient and emotional: LED technology in the lighting sector

During the International Year of Light, technologies are focused which reduce the global emissions of greenhouse gases: for example, through the use of light-emitting diodes - LEDs. How different LEDs are already used in current designs, is shown by selected lights.

From “Industrieform” to Red Dot (1954 - 1979)

Still until 23 August 2015, the Red Dot Design Museum and the Ruhr Museum in Essen, Germany, are presenting the exhibition “Enduring, not ultimate form”. In the same way that design has constantly changed and developed further, so too has today’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen stayed close to the pulse of time in the past sixty years.

With four exhibitions at the same time, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen celebrates its 60th anniversary in this summer. In 1955, the first “Permanent Show of Elegant Industrial Products” was opened at Villa Hügel. Today- six centuries later - the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany presents the largest exhibition of contemporary design in the former boiler house of Zollverein coal mine.
