Red Dot Award: Communication Design – “Early Bird” registration ends on 2 April

The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2017 is well underway. They can submit their works and projects to the international competition within the “Early Bird” registration phase until 2 April and benefit from the reduced registration fee of the first submission period.

From 6 April – 21 May 2017, the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany will become a hot-spot for creative achievements from around the world. With its new special exhibition “World’s Best Communication Design and Highlights from NRW” it showcases the latest trends, strategies and projects of the regional and international communication design scene.

Award-winning design and its makers: “Iceberg Songs”

The top individual award is the Red Dot: Grand Prix. In 2016, the award was granted to the website “Iceberg Songs” designed by Serviceplan and Pan.Net for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and gives a silent phenomenon a sound identity.

Red Dot Design-Ranking 2016 – outstanding performances by institutions

The Red Dot Design Ranking for design concepts tracks and measures the success of an organisation in producing exciting new design concepts over a period of time. The Red Dot jury of 21 international design experts awarded five institutions with the Red Dot: Best of the Best, in recognition of the outstanding effort and quality designs, one of them is "ENSCI - Les Ateliers".

At the heart of the Red Dot Award: Product Design is its jury. In the end of February they gathered in order to test, discuss and assess every single entry in an evaluation process lasting several days. Part of the panel in 2017 will be Aleks Tatic again.

The "Red Dot: Best of the Best" is the highest award of the Red Dot Award. In 2016, "kayak" by designer Patrick Norguet got the Award. The design of the chair focused on exploring the possibilities of wood.

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects of high design quality. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of the entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. It goes to the best products of a category, among them the “TULIP Feuerring”. Red Dot asked the jury what they particularly appreciated about the design of this fireplace, and talked to the designer Andreas Reichlin.

2016 was again an eventful and successful year for Red Dot that was characerised by numerous high points. In July, the design world celebrated the winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design in Essen, Germany. In September, the awards ceremony of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept was held in Singapore, and in November, the international creative scene convened in Berlin to honour the laureates of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design .

From electronic drums to extravagant packaging to origami chair: Around 100 exhibits invite visitors to discover Japanese design. A special is that visitors can touch and test numerous exhibits.
