Trend: Colors, Forms and Materials in Milan

The spectrum of colors, forms and materials mirrors the four trends described here.

On the one hand, highly technological materials are used to fuse communication and entertainment electronics with furniture. On the other hand, the surfaces of the armchairs, sofas or chaise lounges can either be made of current plastic materials with techno forms or – as a total contrast – soft and comfortable textiles in warm natural colors that invite conviviality.

When it comes to forms, Professor Dr. Peter Zec and Elmar Schüller identified a strong trend towards "maximization": this phenomenon becomes most evident in the case of lamps that were originally designed as desk products and now take on a gigantic scale to serve as standing or outdoor lamps.

The color spectrum mainly reveals black and white as a thematic reflection of the '80s, a lush orange and bright green as mirrors of artificiality, and dark and warm shades of red and gray, mixed with earth colors as references to the natural.
