Trend: Sculptural Light

Stagings of light: still, the designers allow their fantasies to roam free when it comes to the design of lamps. As is often the case, the border to art is crossed. The lamp becomes an art object, a sculpture that not only gives light and allows us to see other things, but in itself wants to become the center of attention and observation.

This year, standing lamps that actually take the place of a sculpture in a space can be found in Frankfurt. On the other hand, table or wall lamps are clothed in forms that remind us of a snail ("Escargot" lamp by Artemide), passing birds ("Mouette" by Artemide) or an arrow "Yet" by Foscarini). Unusual materials or the use of brilliant rainbow colors also make the source of light a very special piece of furniture.
