Trend: Invisible Light

Reduction was another trend setting catchword in Frankfurt: the source of light almost becomes invisible. The lamp is in the background, and the light is at the center of attention.

Breaking down the outlines of the lamp and thus creating a unity with the spatial environment is this year's goal, as the Director of the Design Department and Managing Director of Nimbus, Dietrich Brennenstuhl, confirmed.

This "invisible" effect is created through the use of indirect light and reflectors, hidden lights or simple squares countersunk into the wall or ceiling. The attempt to almost entirely dissolve the source of light is in stark contrast with the trend to shape the lamp as a sculptural work of art. Both extremes could be seen in Frankfurt.
