Ceramic Design in Holland
The European Ceramic Work Centre (.ekwc) in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, offers the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of ceramic art and design for three months.
These three month long work periods are offered on site in the studios of the .ekwc, which is located one hour outside of Amsterdam. Altogether, 44 places are available, 20 for individual applications, 4 for university graduates and 20 upon invitation. Artists, designers and architects can apply for a period for 2005 or 2006 and thus have the opportunity to explore the artistic and technical possibilities of ceramics together with international professionals. The .ekwc offers participants working and living spaces as well as the use of all .ekwc facilities. A team of specialists will be at hand to offer technical advice for the participants' work. The three-month working period can be divided up into separate phases.
Applicants can register for one of the 2005/2006 places until October 1, 2004. There are two preconditions: an academic training and 2 years of professional practice. Those who are interested and are under the age of 30 and who graduated from an art or design college or university less than two years ago can apply for the "Young Participants" scholarship, which includes a budget for materials. An independent committee will examine the applications. The application form and other information is available at www.ekwc.nl.
