Cozy, Comfortable and Robust - Materials in Cologne.
The trend of withdrawing into one’s own home, which is internationally presented as "Cocooning," promotes covering the sitting furniture and couches of all styles with soft, cozy fabrics. Wool, cashmere or chenille in warm gray and natural shades from eggshell to brown is currently en vogue. This phenomenon goes hand in hand with the preference of felt, terrycloth and their variants; however, elegant versions of these fluffy materials are used.
The widespread minimalism and the hidden functional cleverness, for example, turn a sofa that was just used for sprawling in front of the TV into casual lounge furniture in an instant - preferably in warm gray, garnished with a red cushion. The result aims at a comfortable feeling in a tasteful environment and ad hoc adaptability.
A second trend that emerged in the selection of forms is the move towards high value and durability. This is expressed, for example, in the fact that high-tech plastic materials, glass, metal, natural materials and high gloss lacquered surfaces are used. Or a metal edge refines the furniture, from the kitchen (here it is part of the future obligatory program) to the living room table to furniture for sitting. In addition, high-quality African (or African-style) woods in all conceivable shades enrich the designers’ current repertoires. They are especially popular now in combination with gray felt and red fabric or leather. Cozy, dark wood combined with classic white lacquered surfaces also enters into the kitchen. Finally, it is worth mentioning that brightly colorful plastic materials are conquering the kitchen.
