Happy Birthday, Rido Busse!
The designer Rido Busse celebrates his 70th birthday on August 14, 2004.
As a scholarship holder of the Geschwister School and the Friedrich Ebert foundation for the intellectually gifted, Rido Busse studied at the legendary Ulm Design School (Hochschule für Gestaltung, HfG) and graduated in 1959. That same year he founded busse design ulm. Today, this design company employs 45 people and develops products for the industry up to the prototype stage.
Rido Busse became known to the broad public through his creation of the "Plagiarius" award. The Plagiarius has been awarded since 1977 to plagiarists that are especially audacious. In 1978 he also founded the "Busse Longlife Design Award", an award for products that have kept their market value for more than 8 years. It is awarded every three years.
The work of busse design ulm has been honored with more than 400 design awards. Rido Busse has repeatedly served as a juror for the red dot award. Moreover, he is an honorary professor at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art.
