New Head at the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See
Roland Heiler (46) has been appointed to the position of managing director of Porsche Design GmbH, Zell am See and, simultaneously, head of the Porsche Design Studio.
Roland Heiler has been working in various functions as a designer at Porsche since 1984. In 1997 he joined Audi AG as Director of Exterior Design. In 2000 he returned to Porsche and became chief designer of the Porsche Styling Studio in Huntington Beach, California; two years later he took over its management. Since Porsche AG has gained additional design capacities through the studio in Zell am See, the California studio will be closed effective April 1, 2005.
The Design Studio in Zell am See was founded in 1974 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Roland Heller will continue the design line established by Professor Porsche and assure a uniform design signature of all products that are distributed under the Porsche Design brand. Among them are classic men's accessories like watches, eyeglasses, writing implements, leather goods, golf clubs and smoking utensils. The product portfolio will be expanded with electronic products, sports devices and a fashion and perfume line. In addition, the Design Studio will continue working on design commissions from industrial companies.
Christian Schwamkrug (46) was appointed deputy managing director of the Design Studio in Zell am See, where he has been responsible for numerous objects since 1987. Moreover, the renowned Paris fashion and accessories designer Christophe Blondin (36), who has already done work for brands like Lanvin, Lagerfeld and Kenzo, will reinforce the team in Zell am See in the position of design director.
