Innovative Saddle Concept by SQ-Lab and Sportive Design
During the Eurobike trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany (September 2-5, 2004), SQ-Lab will unveil an innovative saddle concept which can be individually adjusted to different anatomies and sitting habits.
In cooperation with the company SQ-Lab and the urologist Dr. Stefan Staudte, Sportive Design has developed an innovative saddle concept. The saddle can be adjusted to various requirements through the use of pads that are fastened with Velcro, enabling athletic bike riders to essentially build an individualized solution to their problems
The lightweight carbon fiber shell of the saddle includes inset Velcro elements. The two seat pads and a saddle nose pad are positioned and affixed to the Velcro according to individual needs. The new saddle passes the test especially during longer bike tours: the position of the surface in relation to the sitting bones can be changed due to the adjustable pads. This reduces the pressure on the perineum or pubic bone and on areas that might become sore. One-sided overloads or aching sitting bones are prevented. For racers there will be seat pads that are raised at the back and offer good support. In order to be able to properly adjust the pads to one’s own anatomy, the saddle includes templates for measuring.
