The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

The competition for Design Concepts and prototypes is held annually in Singapore. The highest award for the best of all concepts is the Red Dot: Luminary which includes prize money of SGD 5,000.

The highest award in the Communication Design competition is the “Red Dot: Grand Prix” for the best work in a category. The “Red Dot: Junior Prize”, which includes prize money of 10,000 euros, will be awarded to the best student work.

Application phase for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 begins

From 24 October 2016 onwards, designers and manufacturers can enter their products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 – one of the largest product competitions in the world. For more than 60 years, it has offered a fair and independent design benchmark. The award’s 40 strong, international jury evaluates every product submitted live, on site and only awards the Red Dot to those that stand out for their good design quality. The application phase for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 is divided into three distinct stages: the “Early bird” phase ends on 2 December 2016 and is followed by the “Regular” stage which ends on 20 January 2017, then “Latecomer” has a closing date of 8 February 2017. Outstanding design and its makers: lamp “Mesh”

Once a year, the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design awards objects with high quality design. In 2016, only 1.5 percent of around 5,200 entries received the highest distinction “Red Dot: Best of the Best”. It goes to the best products of a category, among them the lamp “Mesh”. Red Dot asked the jury what they particularly appreciated about the design of this lamp, and talked to the designer Francisco Gomez Paz. More

On 22 September 2016, the highlight of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept was celebrated – the Red Dot Gala. Red Dot Award: participation phase for product design starts at the end of October 2016

On 24 October 2016, the registration period of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 will begin. With the help of a jury, the international competition appraises the top products of the year. Manufacturers and designers from all over the world submit originals of their latest products in the hope of being awarded the sought-after distinction “Red Dot”. Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 for design concepts

The Red Dot Design Ranking 2016 honours enterprise and institutions which have continuously proven excellence in the course of the Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The ranking is based on a weighted formula considering the cumulative number and classes of awards received over the last five years. Successful exhibition opening: Red Dot winners demonstrate “La valeur du design” in France

On Wednesday, 14 September 2016, a new Red Dot exhibition opened in France. During a reception at the Cité du Design in St. Etienne, “La valeur du design” (“The value of design”) was on show for the first time. Until 8 January 2017, Red Dot awarded products from France and around the world inform visitors about the merits and value of good design.
