The Product Design competition has existed since 1954. Its award, the Red Dot, is an internationally recognised quality seal. The best products receive the Red Dot: Best of the Best award.

red dot establishes new award for design concepts in Singapore The internationally renowned “red dot design award,“ which this year celebrates its 50-year jubilee, has extended into the area of “design concept.“ What makes the new “red dot design award” special: as the name suggests, instead of centering on products that have already been introduced to the market, the award focuses on design concepts; on new, creative and exciting ideas and visions. The “red dot award: design concept” is intended to assess and promote truly creative achievements: designers, agencies, design studios, design professionals, student as well as research departments and inventors worldwide are invited to take part in the “red dot award: design concept.” All kinds of innovations and design novelties that have not yet been introduced to the market can be submitted. Revitalisation of Iconic Chair

The California-based design studio BMW Group DesignworksUSA and an aluminium chair company, Emeco have revitalised an iconic Emeco chair popular in the 1950s. The recreation was prompted by the discovery of the original chair on the auction website eBay. Designed by Adrian van Hooydonk, the modern “1951” version will debut at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, taking place from April 13 to April 19, 2005. More
