Internationales Engagement von red dot feiert krönenden Jahresabschluss mit exklusiver Ausstellung in Hongkong

When the gates of the new Design School of the Hong Kong Design Institute open on 25 November 2010, a new chapter in the history of professional design promotion will begin in Hong Kong. All four formerly separate faculties will then be housed under the roof of the new building complex and offer students of the creative industries a wide range of trainings as well as optimal opportunities for professional development.  

Hong Kong is an excellent example of a close and constructive collaboration between companies, governmental institutions, academies, and designers and is internationally regarded as an important business location. red dot is also aware of the special status of this pulsating metropolis and as co-organiser shows a presence at this festive occasion with a reception and an exhibition.

One day after the big opening, red dot will hold a reception on 26 November 2010, where Hong Kong’s creative scene will come together in a relaxed atmosphere to exchange ideas and expertise as well as to make new and cultivate existing contacts.

red dot presents: Leading Design of the World
From 26 November 2010 to 25 February 2011 red dot will present a selection of products that have received accolades in the red dot design award. The exclusive selection will show a cross-section of the international Who’s Who of design: Dyson, Tupperware, Apple, BMW, Dell, Walter Knoll, and Artemide are only some of the illustrious companies that will be represented on site with their exhibits.

“The Hong Kong Design Institute stands for highly successful and sustainable design promotion which, always harmoniously and with an eye on the future, advances the most diverse design disciplines in all their versatility,” says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award. “It is an honour for us, at this historic occasion, to set an example for all students, creative professionals, and those interested in design by presenting international top class design at this remarkable place.”

The red dot design award
The red dot design award, the origins of which date back to 1955, consists of the different disciplines “red dot award: product design”, “red dot award: communication design”, and “red dot award: design concept”. With almost 14,000 entries from 68 nations, it is the biggest and most prestigious design competition in the world today.
