Top-designers, CEOs and VIPs: The red dot gala
When the best products of the “red dot award: product design 2012” are awarded, stars of international design are there, too. A top-class event such as this does not live alone from its framework and content, but also – and not least – from its guests. In the case of the red dot gala, the grand finale of the “red dot award: product design 2012”, the Who’s who of the best designers, CEOs and VIPs gathers in Essen, Germany.
Amongst them are some of the renowned red dot jurors. Gordon Bruce, who is making a name for himself as a design consultant for 38 years now – for example for Porsche Design in the United States – will attend the gala, as well as Vivian Wai-kwan Cheng, who keeps setting the design scene in Hong Kong in motion.
With Wolfgang K. Meyer-Hayoz and Prof. Stefan Diez, two renowned industrial designers and outstanding graduates from the Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, Germany, are visiting, too. Moreover, Dr. Luisa Bocchietto, National President des ADI – Italian Association for Industrial Design, will enrich the red dot gala with her presence. Multi award-winning architect and interior designer Steve Leung from Hong Kong, USB-stick inventor Hideshi Hamaguchi from Japan and Finnish Tapani Hyvönen, Vice-President of the Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo, complete the international guest list.
But that is not all of the (design) celebrities: Three-times Olympic gold medal winner Rica Reinsch, Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer at KIA motors and Matthias Müller, CEO of Porsche AG are expected as well. Furthermore, TV-chef and UN ambassador Sarah Wiener will attend the red dot gala as a stage guest. A special honour is the attendance of car-design legend Walter Maria de Silva, Head of Group Design, VOLKSWAGEN AG, who will also speak on stage.
Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of red dot, will host the gala-ceremony on the Aalto-Theater Essen, Germany. A live-coverage of the framework programme and impressions of the red dot gala starts noon 2 July.
