red dot 2013 for real estate developers and architects: Last chance to participate!

The “red dot” is the internationally accepted quality seal for aesthetic forms, sustainable trends and responsible creative talents. Excellent architects, such as Ben van Berkel or Hadi Teherani, have been enthused by the spirit and the reputation of the red dot award for a long time. In 2012 they premiered as part of the red dot jury and decided together on the entries in the category “Architecture and Urban Design”.

More than 15,000 participating projects from 70 countries in 2012 alone – the quantitative lead over other design competitions is more than clear. But above all, the quality of the red dot award with its established reputation convinces the professional world. According to Steve Leung, an award-winning architect and interior designer from Hong Kong, “the winning works are always seen as a quality standard for good design, not just for design professionals or others involved in the industry but also for the public at large – and that is the most important aspect”.

“The red dot is simply an excellent, very transparent and appropriate concept for choosing quality”, explains star-architect Hadi Teherani. But not only the big names in the industry win the award. What counts is the earnestness behind each piece of work to realise a new, lucid and coherent architecture – regardless of whether the work involves trend-setting interior design, a residential or a commercial building. Participants can win the favour of the international red dot jury with smart materials, sustainable concepts and elegant details.

In 2012, they distinguished among others German architect Jürgen Mayer H. who convinced the panel of experts with the outstanding design of the “Metropol Parasol”. Therefore, he received the “red dot: best of the best”, highest single accolade in the competition, which is broadly communicated. The better the reputation, the easier it is for architects or design offices to position themselves on the market. Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of the red dot, explains that stable values are hugely significant, especially in uncertain economic times: “Customers immediately recognise the distinctive logo. The red dot stands not only for excellent design achievements but also for continuity and reliability.”

On 1 July 2013, the ceremony for the renowned awards will be traditionally hold in the magnificent Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. The laureates of the “red dot: best of the best” will receive their trophies from Prof. Dr. Peter Zec and the jury members. The award-winning architects and designers will then celebrate in the red dot design museum. The museum building is the former boiler house of world heritage Zeche Zollverein and was rebuilt by Lord Norman Foster. This will also be the setting for presenting all of the award winners.
