"red dot award: communication design 2013" - Inspire the world! The starting signal will be given on 25 March

The competition
The “red dot award: communication design” rewards innovative works from posters and annual reports to packaging and event design. And when one of the most renowned competitions in the world enters the next round, the most creative minds of the industry will jump at the chance. From 25 March 2013 on, designers, agencies, clients of communication design as well as young professionals and students will have the opportunity to measure themselves against the industry’s best designers.

Getting a distinction offers a wide range of opportunities to young professionals in particular. In addition to a student discount on the registration fees and, in the case of an award, on further costs, the “red dot: junior prize” – valued at 10,000 euros – will be awarded to one of the participating works. The prize money simplifies one’s professional career and leads to more creative achievements.

Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator and CEO of red dot, sums it up as follows: “Since 1993 the competition has been documenting the latest trends of the scene – and this story is a long way from coming to an end. In times of globalisation and when the volume of information is increasing, excellent design is all the more important for innovation and commercial success. Being one of the winners of the ‘red dot award: communication design’ provides unbiased proof of contemporary skills and guarantees worldwide media attention.”

Jury & distinction
In a process lasting several days, communication experts from all over the world evaluate every single work – live and on site. The jury of the “red dot award: communication design” consists of renowned experts and is the competition’s heart. The jurors assess entries in 21 categories. Whether “Mobile & Apps”, “Annual Reports” or “Games & Electronic Art”: in the “red dot award: communication design” there are no boundaries to creativity. But only the best design works from the high-quality field of participants in the “red dot award: communication design” will be awarded.

Those who invest in their design ideas and convince the top-class jury will benefit from the high recognition value of the red dot and stand out from the crowd – particularly in times of oversupply of technology. The new features
In order to respond even better to the entire spectrum of the creative achievements submitted in the past, the different categories of the “red dot award: communication design” were revised and defined more precisely. The red dot jury is already looking forward to the complete spectrum of design expertise.

Awards ceremony & party
As one of the most influential design competitions in the world, red dot will again make a stop in the creative metropolis of Berlin in 2013. Not only the laureates can look forward to 18 October – everybody who is somebody in the industry will get together in the “Konzerthaus Berlin” and will honour the winners for their outstanding creative achievements. At the subsequent Designers’ Night, they can celebrate their success.
