Product auction of the Red Dot Design Museum Essen enthused bidders and visitors

On Sunday, 15 December 2013, more than 130 products were auctioned for a good cause in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen in Germany. About 120 design friends came to have a look at shapely products and to make a bid on their favourite piece. Some people seized the auction as exciting Christmas shopping, some were glad about design objects for their own four walls. Even auction professionals from the retail industry were there to buy objects for their own shops.

Of course, the auction organised by the Design Zetrum NRW again offered the opportunities for a bargain buy. However, the annual auction is always about earning as much money as possible which will be donated to Amnesty International without deductions. This year, the impressive sum of 6,037 euros came together, even though many of the products were auctioned off at a starting prize of 1 euro.

Some of the design products which Vito Orazhem, Managing Director of the Design Zentrum NRW, auctioned, were most wanted: Especially the electric blender BISTRO, and the desk koloro-desk received many bids. With the floor lamp CALLA plus, the enthused bidders bettered each other until the final prize of 300 euros.

The donation of last year was outbidden and enthusiastic design friends can look forward to next year’s charity auction.
