Award-winning packaging design: “Tree in a Bottle” by the Hair O’right International Corporation

Red Dot Design Museum Taipei presents outstanding selection of the most innovative communication designs

Visitors of the newest Red Dot exhibition venue in Taiwan are able to meet awarded objects from various life and product worlds. After “Every Product tells a Story” and “Style your life”, the exhibition “Red Dot Award: Communication Design – Winners’ Selection” starts on 15 May 2014. It shows a selection of award-winning works from Taiwan, distinguished in 2013. Furthermore, nearly all international works awarded with a Red Dot: Best of the Best and a Red Dot: Grand Prix in last year’s competition are featured in this unique exhibition.

Best of Taiwanese Communication Design
In the Red Dot Award: Communication Design, Taiwan has proved itself time and time again with numerous promising creative achievements. In 2013, more than 40 works from Taiwanese designers were awarded a Red Dot. Four works even received a Red Dot: Best of the Best. Especially the expertise in packaging design is reflected in the competition’s numbers, accounting for a whole 26% in the previous year. A proud contribution, as only the best works are honoured by the international Red Dot jury with the quality seal of the design industry, the Red Dot.

International Red Dot winners’ selection
The Red Dot Award: Communication Design is geared toward all creative talents, from agencies to design offices and freelancers to companies. Whether Corporate Design, Advertising or Online – the search is for visually striking graphics and innovative campaigns. In addition to the individual awards, each year the Red Dot: Agency of the Year and the Red Dot: Client of the Year are selected for special achievements.

In 2013, the branding agency Mutabor won the title “Red Dot: Agency of the Year”, while the “Red Dot: Client of the Year” was awarded to Audi. The Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014 is ongoing. It also provides a platform for up-and-coming talents – the designer of the best piece of work by an apprentice, a student or young graduate is awarded the Red Dot: Junior Prize along with prize money of EUR 10,000. In 2013 alone, the competition counted more than 6,800 entries from 49 different countries. 503 of those works won a Red Dot. The jury only gave 62 Red Dot: Best of the Best and only 10 Red Dot: Grand Prix awards, the highest single distinction in the contest.
