On Monday 7 July, the laureates of the Red Dot Award will be introduced. From the 4,815 products entered, the jury for the internationally renowned design award selected outstanding automobiles, leisure products, professional devices and consumer electronics. These will all be on show after the celebratory Red Dot Gala: Around 1,500 designers, entrepreneurs and media representatives from all continents will celebrate and present the winning products at the after-show party in the Red Dot Design Museum, the world’s largest exhibition of contemporary design.
This year, global market leaders as varied as Apple, BMW and Hilti entered their products in the competition for the sought-after Red Dot. The winning products include well-known feats of technology such as the Peugeot 308 SW or the new Mac Pro. The jury was also won over by some more unusual products like the outdoor DJ deck “Fono” from Yalp or the first inflatable high-performance sailing dinghy from Tiwal. All of the more than 1,000 fascinating new developments will be on show in the “Design on Stage” exhibition on the evening of 7 July.
The northern European countries have been remarkably successful in 2014. For the first time in the history of the competition, a Swedish company, Veryday, was named Red Dot: Design Team of the Year.
